Laparoscopy is often referred to as keyhole surgery. It is a surgical procedure performed under general anesthesia to visualize and treat diseases in the pelvis and abdominal cavity.
The procedure is carried out by making small incisions and placing tubes through them. The laparoscope - an instrument that contains a fiber-optic camera - is then inserted through the tubes, aiding the surgeon to examine the internal organs on a monitor and perform the surgery.
Dr. M.G. Bhat has extensive experience in complicated laparoscopy surgery. He initiated laparoscopy in the year 1992, and has performed more than 10,000 laparoscopic surgeries till date.
